A New Hope By being willing to try a risky, new economic system Taiwan has grown from a 3rd world rock into the 10th leading power in the World Economy. Although this great rise to power has not come without costs the economic miracle of Taiwan can be looked at used as a model for hope by 3rd world countries such as Honduras and the Philippines. If countries such as these are willing to try Taiwan’s revolutionary economic system they will reap the rewards of a remarkably better life in a short period of time. 3rd world countries such as Honduras and the Philippines standard of living will drastically improve if they adopt Taiwan’s economy. Currently their infant mortality rate is about 30.32/1000 compared to Taiwan’s 6.93/1000. Life expectancy is also much higher in Taiwan, 76.54 compared to 67.8 And 69.35. People in Taiwan enjoy a 94% literacy rate compared to Honduras’ rate of 72.7%.
