Easter Sunday (a Sunday between March 22 and April 25) The word ¡§Easter¡¨ comes from ¡§Eastre¡¨, the Anglo-Saxon Goddess of spring. A festival was held in her honor every year at Spring Equinox, to celebrate the rebirth of nature and all living things. Later, when Christianity became the dominant religion, Christians claimed Good Friday as the day that Jesus Christ died and Easter Sunday as the day that he came back to life. However, earlier fertility symbols such as rabbits and eggs have continued to be associated with the holiday. Originally, the Easter Bunny was a rabbit-spirit called the ¡§Easter Hare¡¨.
