Descriptive Statistics
Descriptive Statistics: Grocery Budget of Team A Team A previously collected the primary and secondary data necessary for researching the problem of overspending on the monthly grocery bill. This data was obtained via the Internet and personal observation, and will now provide insight into where we are overspending, as well as on how we can save money. To accomplish this, we will examine the previously collected data in order to identify the central tendencies. These central tendencies will measure the average or midpoints of our data. This report will provide a summary of our central tendencies as well as a graphical representation of the information. The measures of central tendencies will show us some of our mistakes, which are causing us to overspend on groceries and will also allow us to make recommendations for avoiding these errors going forward. The central tendency simple means the middle. Since a grocery bill does not have a middle, Team A needs to focus on the middle of the amount of savings. Team A will lower their grocery bill in order to save money. In order to save money, Team A needs to locate the mistakes when spending too much money on unneeded items, and to learn where to shop that will lower the grocery bill. One mistake that was made in the last four weeks was the amount spent on unneeded items. The average amount was $20.69 a week; this means an average amount of $82.76 a month was spend on unneeded items for the month. This is equal to almost one week of Team A’s budget for groceries. This is one reason why Team A is overspending. The simplest mistake that Team A has encountered is the need to shop when hungry.
