Hammurabi's Code
2. The code of Hammurabi reveals that in the Mesopotamian society there was a strict justice system and an indefinite hierarchy. One who commits a crime against a noble would be punished more severely than one who commits that same crime against a commoner or slave. It seems also in the society as if women were held in much lower regard. Women had far less privilege in marriage and a husband could divorce his wife if she could not bear a child or was neglecting of the family.
