At first, Macbeth is a loyal, righteous, and honest thane. He fights for his king and for his country. Also, he was concerned about his friend, Banquo, and about his wife. However, when he is named Thane of Cawdor (just as the witches had predicted), he assumes that he’ll become king quite soon. When he learns that Duncan has announced Malcolm as the Prince of Cumberland, he gets both angry and upset.
