In 1970, a program with the federal government and international banks started the construction of Cancun. For the 1974s there was already had been constructed an international airport, high ways, and a small city to put houses for the 10,000 habitants that were in Cancun. The publicity that Mexico gave was to the natural features of Cancun that caused a great interest and a lot of people to come. For the 1979, there were three thousand rooms of hotels and a population of 30,000 habitants. The city continued growing in companion of the hotel zone and for 1988 there were already 12,000 rooms and almost two hundred thousand habitants.
