Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury is a futuristic novel, taking the reader to a time where books and thinking are outlawed. Books and ideas are burned, books are burned physically and ideas are burned from the mind. Bradbury’s idea is to warn us of what may happen if we stop expressing our ideas, and we let people take away our books, and thoughts. That is what he is speaking out against, showing that the key to humanity lies in thinking and questioning, which in this case books appeal to. “Do you know why books are important? Because they have quality. And what does the word quality mean? To me it means texture. This book has pores. It has features. This book can go under the microscope. You’d find life under the glass, streaming past in infinite profusion” (Bradbury 83). This quotes symbolizes the reason why Bradbury wants to show people the importance of books. Bradbury expresses two sides to his book. He shows duality in two of the characters in his book.
