Ecotourism is a façade and is bad for the environment. First of all, there are no local benefits. Almost all of the profit is sent to foreign countries, and the low paying jobs like tour guides are given to the local villagers. Secondly, some of the projects are fake landscapes. These artificial areas are just for show to the tourists so they come back, also the false landscape tends to harm the plants and animals that live in the area. Lastly, some of the nature reserves have big companies install projects. Huge resorts such as hotels, condominiums, shopping centers and golf courses are being established on the land being set aside for the environment. In conclusion, ecotourism is just a cover up for making money and does not support the environment. Belize Vegetation Belize has a very diverse and interesting vegetation. It has tropical vegetation with over 4,000 small plants, 250 types of orchids, and 700 different species of trees. Belize has a very fascinating Plant Kingdom.
