Philip the Arab Ancient Roman emperors are seen by the public in an admirable light. A prime example of this would be Marcus Julius Philippus, who was better known as Philip the Arab. What the public does not see is that even the most admirable, have their own dark secrets. Philip was born in 204 AD during the reign of Septimius Severus, in the Roman province of Arabia. He was born to Julius Marinus a few years after his brother, Julius Priscus. (Meckler) In the 230's AD, Philip married Otacilia Dusanic, and they had a child whom they named Marcus Julius Severus Philippus.
