The experience of being raped is traumatic and tragic enough. However, that may not be the end of the painful episode. Often times, if a police report has been lodged, the police would carry out their investigation and the decision might have to be made by the victim as to whether or not to press charges. The decision is not an easy one as many things have to be taken into consideration including having to delve into the details of the painful episode and recalling again an event that the victim would rather forget. There is also the aspect of being subject to intensive cross-examination by the opposing side in court. Rape is the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. Any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person. Oh the other hand, rape is a horrifying crime, but what is the meaning of this horrifying act of rape?
