Teacher= Educator, Counselor, Parent, Role Model Education is our key to the future. My goal as a teacher is to turn that key and unlock the potential in every one of my students. In order to do this, I must be an educator, counselor, parent, and a role model. If I can make a difference, then my life goal has been met. The purpose of education is to produce a student with skills in reading, writing and arithmetic, but our goal does not stop there. We must prepare morally sound citizens who are prepared for life in the real world. Students should experience culture as well, through the arts, literature, history, and geography. As a high school student, I was fortunate enough to have three excellent English who helped my love for English bloom far beyond my wildest expectations. Mrs. Paxton, Mrs. Luff and Mrs. Fish all taught me that I have one very important thing inside of me: potential. Every student has potential. I will be a successful teacher because I have potential, and by following through on that philosophy, I have made it through my first year and a half of teaching with my sanity and a realization that I can continue to learn and grow, benefiting my students more every day. These women were in control and respectful to their students, and as a result, they always received the respect they deserved.
