VISITOR’S POLICY This dialysis facility recognizes that family members and significant others frequently accompany patients to the facility particularly when other means of transportation are unavailable. Having visitors during dialysis treatments may add to a patient’s care and comfort. However, visitors are prohibited from entering the treatment area particularly during the time that treatments are being initiated and terminated. These restrictions are necessary to ensure the accurate preparation of the equipment and the safe and effective delivery of care to the patient, to maintain infection control and to prevent any accidental exposure of the visitor to bloodborne pathogens during the time s(he) is present in the treatment area.
