Be Blameless and Pursue Spiritual Goals Just as Jacob Did!
In the world around us, we can see that as we progress through time, crime, violence, wars, abuse, drugs, and many more negative things are sadly increasing. But how can we improve this world today? Well, first of all, we need to look at ourselves. Are we involved in the list above, or do we think only of ourselves, as most of the world does? Lets examine two twins that were complete opposites. One was self-centered and selfish, and the other one was blameless and pursued spiritual goals. We will also be looking at the birthright and the blessing (from their father.) Jacob, one of the twins, was very concerned with the family household, unlike his older twin brother Esau. Even though both brothers were very large and powerful men, Jacob didn’t make a show of his strength and abilities like his brother did. Jacob valued the covenant that was promised to his grandfather Abraham, and he strived to learn as much as he could about this promise. Let’s look at the Bible to see what Jacob and Esau thought about the birthright. E'sau became a man knowing how to hunt, a man of the field, but Jacob a blameless man, dwelling in tents. 28 And Isaac had love for E'sau, because it meant game in his mouth, whereas Re•bek'ah was a lover of Jacob. 29 Once Jacob was boiling up some stew, when E'sau came along from the field and he was tired. 30 So E'sau said to Jacob: "Quick, please, give me a swallow of the red-the red there, for I am tired!" That is why his name was called E'dom.
