SEPARATE BUT NOT EQUAL
Everyone is created equal, right? It certainly doesn’t seem like that at Myrtle Middle School in New Jersey. Mr. Pilone, an eighth grade teacher, decided that he would experiment by creating single-gender classes. Why would separating the boys from the girls create any new change, and make the school a better place? Single-gender classes just create more tension amongst everyone, and they are not as successful as co-ed classes. The experiment Mr. Pilone tried proved to raise the girl’s scores a bit, but it showed no improvement in the boy’s department.
