. In my opinion, cockfighting is wrong. This may not have been the basis of the paper, but as I read through the passages, I could not help but come back to my opinion several times. Due to this ‘bias’ I seemed to have for the practice of the cockfight, I felt that anything the author said about it, was quite disturbing. Even as he described the betting system, or the ownership of the animals, I was disgusted that this is still a practice used to raise money for basic needs such as education and schools in Bali. The author treats cockfighting as “a rite or a pastime…” This part of the Balinese culture; it is what they know as a society.
