Waste Minimisation Waste is not necessarily rubbish! People dispose of material as waste only when they think it is no longer useful, or if they believe it cannot be reprocessed economically. If an ecologically sustainable future is to be assured, Australian’s need to conserve all their resources, especially non-renewable resources, and energy. On average each year, each Australian generates about 800kg of industrial, commercial and domestic waste.
