We all first met young Willie, some 11 years ago We needed a coach for this new sport– quite desperately you know So along came our Willie – to teach us to play touch And I know that he despaired, we needed help so much! And from there with us Turtles, our friendship it did grow As we saw more of Willie and him we began to know We had parties, we had barbeques and Willie always came along We learnt with food and with drinking – he was always really strong And on that famous trip to Bali, it was eating that saved his life And Willie is always the leader, whenever there was strife He’s always involved with rugby, part of the naughty foursome known There was Willie, Ian, Paul and Norrie, their reputation is firmly sown And as for Willie Louie time – it’s so different to other time It seems his watches never work – they’re an hour or three behind But when he finally does arrive, in his big red jalopy jeep He is always so generous and he always earns his keep Specially when he came along as a camping we did go And he taught us about night noises, although we thought that we did know And he taught us the tent walls are thin, and have to be put far away So we could all get some needed sleep, without the snoring in the way Out camping then together, our camp at Tawharanui Would never ever be the same, without our Willie Louie And so this year, you won’t be here, in England you will be We’ll miss you heaps, your cooking lots, you’ll miss the sun and sea So a few little things from us to you, to remind you of us here To remind you of our camping times, when you’ll be far away over there And although you are turning sixty years, you are as young as young can be You are living life to the fullest, it is there for all to see You’re generous, your heart is great, you are warm and caring, our friend May the next 60 years be as good and our friendship never end
