At Virginia High School Football to them was ‘a way of life’. Each game won was an enormous celebration. In such recognition came powerful emotions from the game. In Virginia, 1971 the High School Football team was everything to the people who lived in Alexandria. A integration through an all black school verses an all white school was put to a vicious test. Herman Boone, a young black coach was hired while being new to the community as head coach of the T.C Williams High Titans over a white man with several years of experience, Bill Yoast.
