In the story “Narcissus and Echo” two main lessons are being taught. The first of these lessons is honesty. In the story, Echo distracts Hera from her husbands cheating. Echo does this by engaging in long conversations, allowing the nymphs to run away. This is being dishonest because Echo knows about Zeus’ affairs and helps him continue with them. Eventually, Hera finds out what Echo is doing and punishes her. Echo’s punishment is that she can only repeat the words that others speak, and cannot speak for herself.
