Federalism is the form of political organization in which two or more governments exercise power and authority over the same people or territory. Dual federalism: The Constitution is a compact among sovereign states, and the powers of the national government are fixed and limited. Cooperative federalism: The Constitution is an agreement among people who are citizens of both state and nation, so there is no firm distinction between state and national powers. Democratic government is a political system based on the principles of freedom and equality. Democratic government mental systems embrace multi-party Parliament. They advocate free and fair elections, where every voter has one vote, and no vote counts more than another does. Democratic governments advocate basic Civil liberties such as Free Speech, Freedom to Worship, and the Freedom to move. In a liberal democracy, Government is limited in its powers. Liberal governments are willing to be “checked and balanced” over their actions. And, are ultimately accountable to the voter. Public policy can be both tailored for local needs, as well providing guidance for issues that relate to the country as a whole. Federalism solves the problem of governing a large country.
