1. Masters Of The Universe
One of the few remaining mysteries of science is the black hole. When a star runs out of fuel to keep it burning, it explodes into a supernova(Intro. to Black Holes 1) After a supernova, some of the matter that was blown off leaves in pockets to different places in space. These pockets contract to from a pulsar, or new born star. The rest of
2. Black Holes 2
What are black holes? Black holes are the remains of a massive star that has collapsed and shrunk to a tiny point in space. They have all of the gravity of the star concentrated into a miniscule point many times smaller than the original. Black holes are difficult to see because they are spinning faster than the speed of light. This causes all
3. Black Holes
On December 3, 1995, astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope identified a black hole in the galaxy NGC 4621, located 100 million light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation Virgo.
This is the second super-massive black hole that astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope have found. Astronomers believe that the mass of thi
4. Black Holes 3
The theory that black holes have existed is not new at all. The thought of them first started in 1783 when Rev. John Michell applied Newtons theory of gravity to predict the possibility of so-called dark stars. Albert Einsteins theory of relativity predicted in 1915 Schwartzschild singularities. In 1967, these were renamed black holes.
5. Black Holes
Black Hole, a theoretical concept in the study of gravitation. The
gravitational field of a black hole, which is an extremely dense body, is
so strong that, if the body is large enough, nothing, including
electromagnetic radiation, can escape from its vicinity. The body is
surrounded by a spherical boundary, called a horizon, through which light
