justice in courtrooms
I believe justice to be what is done in the courts of our country. Recently there has been much discussion as to whether the Canadian courts are just. When dealing with this question one must consider the two types of trials: criminal and civil. In my opinion, civil trials are the most just. It is impossible to say that all trials are unjust and just as impossible to say that all trials are just. I believe that for the most part our civil courts are just. A problem arises when people abuse the courts and this tends to breed injustice. There are thousands of people who sue in an attempt to make some money even when they have sustained no damage. For every one of these people there are just as many lawyers who make a living representing them. This type of frivolous suing is what causes many of the court decisions that most people see as unjust.
