U.S. History Thesis George W. Bush signed the U.S. Patriot Act as a result of the September 11th Terrorist attacks. This act gives authorities the right to look at people’s personal information, invade civil liberties, and should be repealed. It takes away peoples private rights. For example, police and FBI investigators can look at personal records or listen to phone calls without a court order. However, the act might make it easier to catch the occasional terrorists, but is it worth taking away so many personal right, when the evidence obtained may not be accepted in court.
