The Ramifications of Divorce on Women’s Class Divorce is an extremely commonly heard of thing in the world today, but one thing associated with divorce that is not as commonly know about is what happens after a divorce. What happens to the women that are now left without another individual to rely on for financial support? Does her social status change at all when this occurs, or do the affects have no real impact on her? How many women have to deal with dramatic decreases in finances due to divorce? How common is it for he women to become poor after a divorce? Do most of the women get back on their feet or do most falter? Answers to these questions and many more will be discussed in further detail in this paper, but first lets start on a more personal note. Being raised with a divorced parent myself, I know what a woman goes through when she has just gotten a divorce. Growing up, my family was never well off when it came to money, living in trailer parks was quite familiar to me, so when my mother got a divorced from my father, the financial downfall that she suffered didn’t hit me as hard as it would have, say if I was middle class.
