The Cask of Amontillado has many different themes in it but the three that stick out and grab my attention would be. Revenge, murder, and alcoholism all take place and have a main role in the short story. The first of the three that come up in the story is revenge. In the first paragraph the narrator talks about the thousands of injuries or insults that he has taken from his friend Fortunato. He vows revenge but you could not see that from just looking at him you have to see into his soul.
