Romeo and Juliet "Tis the east and Juliet is the sun…", a famous quote from Shakespeare's world-renowned tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. This dazzling love story was written back in the Elizabethan age. With the change in times, it became necessary for the play to be brought into the present so that the youth of the 21st century could experience Shakespeare in their own language. Baz Luhrmann captured the Shakespearean tragedy, and whirled it into the new setting of Verona Beach, a futuristic urban backdrop with two rival gangs. Baz Luhrmann's Shakespearean romance turns into a sexy, passionate love story that defies the boundaries Shakespeare had permitted with his Romeo and Juliet. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes bring sparks to the stage as their love entangles one another. The camera, costumes, and lighting used in this version allows Romeo and Juliet to plunge into deeper waters and wholly capture what the true feelings of each character. At the opening of the movie, the pure essence of the hard-hearted, mean, tuff Capulet boys is captured with a distinct play of the camera. As Tibult steps from the car, he flicks his cigarette to the ground, and quickly stomps on it, killing any sort of life there may have been left in it. The camera never shows the face of Tibult; however, it only shows his leg, and then when he squeezes the last breaths of life from that cigarette, the camera zooms in on his boot, a black leather boot with a stainless steel heel.
