Role of the instructor Scenario: It has been discovered that a subject that has been a member of the gym for six months is lacking motivation. The subject no longer knows why he/she continues to participate in the programme and no longer has any goals. Before solving the above problem, it may be useful to identify exactly what the problem is. A motivation assessment questionnaire could allow the instructor to assess the likelihood of the subject complying with a new programme and establish exactly what motivates and de-motivates the subject (The American college of sports medicine, 2000).
