If a Body Catch a Body Coming Through the Rye
If a Body Catch a Body Coming Through the Rye The Catcher in the Rye is about a native New Yorker Holden Caulfield. Holden is a sixteen year-old student at Pencey Prep; he has just been expelled for academic failure. One night he decides to leave the school and go underground in New York City. It is fictional story written by J.D. Salinger. This novel also contains some literary archetypes like characters, actions, and places. There are a few archetypal characters in this novel. Holden Caulfield is the hero of this one. He is not the kind of hero that goes out to save the day. “I saw something that drove me crazy. Somebody’d written “F***you” on the wall. It drove me damn near crazy. I thought how Phoebe and all the other little kids would see it, and how they’d wonder what the hell it meant, and then finally some dirty kid would tell them -all cockeyed, naturally - what it meant, and how they’d all think about it and maybe even worry about it for a couple of days. I kept wanting to kill whoever’d written it”(Salinger 260). He is the hero because he tries to protect the innocence of children.
