Tattoos have been in existence for over 12 millenia. People of all cultures have worn them for diverse reasons: ornamental, ritual, or as marks of menhood, marriage or wisdom. They were also symbols that represented the particular skills of the wearer, or could signify membership in clan or society. But not long ago, just few decades, they were definitely not the thing to do. The American and European culture viewd tattooing as so deviant, that it came underground.
