Database
Introduction - Scale up in a distributed database In today's business environment, scalability is a prime characteristic of both distributed and centralized databases which is driving business to begin exploring this type of technology. A distributed database is collection of databases that are connected via a network, either local a are or wide area, which may involve different database management systems, running on different architectures, that distributes the execution of transactions. A nice feature of these systems that they inherently enhance the scale up possibilities in the ability to support pre-existing heterogeneous systems that are somehow integrated into a logically interrelated system which handles distributed retrieval and updating of data across a network.
