War
I just remember we were in a war last week. I had heard about President Bush making plans of attacking Iraq and I talked to my mom about it at the dinner table. When I said I hoped he did not declare a war, she laughed and said, “We’ve been in a war for over years!” That night when I laid down in bed tossing and turning, endless thoughts were racing through my mind. One thought sticks out in particular though: Should the United States go to war with Iraq? I weigh the pros and cons in my head, as do President Bush, Congress, and the American people. If America goes to war and wins, the people of Iraq may gain civil rights, and the threat of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapon use against the United States may be eliminated. However, going to war also means losing U.S. soldiers, risking civilian casualties, a devastating impact on the economy, and all along with virtually no support from other countries.
