LONDON 1. London is the Capital city of England and Great Britain and it was founded by the Romans in the year 43 AD, as a trading port on the river Thames. London includes two towns, the London City and Westminster, which was founded 1000 years later. From the first start it has the royal, political and religious meaning (Westminster!!). 2. In the 16st century London was the fastest growing city in Europe. From the year 1600 to the year 1900, the population grew very fast. At this moment London has 6,8 million residents. 3. The main language is English, but there are also 200 different languages (turkish, spanish, arabian, chinese…and many others). About 30% of London population was born elsewhere. 4. The main economic branches(gosp. panoge) are the retail-trade(prodaja na drobno), tourism and banking. 5. London is visited by over 10 million tourists per year. The most attractive points in London are: Ø the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Westminster Abbey, the Madam Tussaud’s, the Tower Of London, the Tower Bridge, the Houses Of Parliament, the Buckingham Palace, The Monument Houses Of Parliament The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are one of Britain's most famous and recognisable(prepoznavni) landmarks.
