“It could be said that ‘Of Mice and Men’ is about two main needs: the need for companionship and the need for something to look forward to.” In the novel the two main characters, George Milton and Lennie Small, show these needs. ‘Of Mice and Men’ is a novel set in Soledad, America. The two main characters are George Milton and Lennie Small. Lennie is a huge, forgetful and stupid man and George is small and quite intelligent. After having to escape from a ranch in Weed the two men went to work on a ranch in search of their dream. Their dream was to own a piece of land themselves. Once they reached the ranch, Lennie got in a fight and some unwanted trouble. George and Lennie also met some friends at the ranch called Candy and Slim but they also met Curley who was in the fight with Lennie. George and Lennie thought their dream was going to come true when Candy said he could help them. Their dream was then destroyed when the rabbit-obsessed, Lennie killed Curley’s wife while feeling her hair then panicking. While the men searched to kill Lennie, George found Lennie and shot him himself to save Lennie from more pain. George and Lennie are different from the other men who worked on the ranch because they have each other.
