It is a dark, clear night and I can see all the stars as I look through my bedroom window. I am getting ready to fall asleep. I feel nervous thinking about the launch tomorrow. Out of all the geologists in the world, only a few could be chosen to go to Mars and I am going to be one of them. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to collect rocks. As my collection grew so did my knowledge and dedication to learn even more about them. As I slip in and out of sleep, I remember my first Earth Science High School course and how I found it so interesting. It was then that I realized that I wanted a career in Geology. Attending the State University of New York was a “Giant Leap” in the right direction.
