How much longer will it be until Grendel arrives? Despite being tired, I cannot rest now. Our lord Beowulf, son of Ecgtheow, has commanded us to sleep but how can one sleep when such a monster as Grendel could be appearing at any time? The others, they are asleep, drunk with mead, but I not being as brave or as powerful as them could not drink as much due to my inability to hold my mead.
