This relationship between “H” and “k” suggests that there is a strong link between the height of a beam and its stiffness, in other words a thicker beam requires a greater force to undergo ”x” displacement. The height of the beam versus its strength (the maximum force applied before failure) can be observed in the following table: (uncertainty) While a relationship cannot be developed between “H” and “S”, the data strongly suggests that the height of the beam affects its strength: a thicker beam will be able to withstand greater forces before failure.
