Neglecting America’s Senior Citizens America’s nursing homes have serious problems. There are plenty of ways to say it, but no way around the issue. Too many of our country’s senior citizens are being abused while they are least able to protect themselves. When their health has deteriorated and their ability to communicate faded, this is when their abuse and neglect begins. Even worse, this mistreatment is being ignored, and the perpetrators are left unpunished. Thousands of convicted criminals are hired by nursing homes to care for our ailing parents and grandparents.
