Reaction Paper: Enkido Where do I begin? It is always much more difficult to express one’s thoughts or emotions on something that one might not comprehend all too well. It is possible that I did not enjoy this play for a number of different reasons but simply put, it was not a work of art that I would enjoy watching again. It is possible that I did not enjoy Enkido because when I heard it was a puppet show, I immediately assumed that it was going to be actual puppets with strings, much like the puppet shows one sees in elementary school. Maybe if I were to have known more about the background of the show, I would not have had something else in mind and possibly then I would have enjoyed it more. Another aspect was the fact that I did not understand the story’s plot. I was always focused on the narrator and his speeches (difficult to not do when all the lights are off and only one is focused on him) but even so I could not understand what he was talking about. I felt lost almost in the entirety of the play. It was almost as though I was watching a French film and I don’t speak the language. I hate to be a pessimist and I’m sure that those involved in the show contributed a lot of time and effort to it, which makes me feel terrible because who am I to judge their work so poorly, but I simply could not get myself to enjoy the show.
