Frankenstein Movie Letter
Dear Ms. Gill, In my opinion, you should provide Whale’s Frankenstein(1931) for students in-class viewing. It provides visual aid to help us interpret the book. Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein was a difficult book for seniors to comprehend. Even though Whales’ movie version differed greatly from Shelly’s book, it still provides the same underlying themes. In the movie they do a good job portraying the monsters hatred toward his creator who abandoned him from the very beginning. It gives a visual picture to connect to Shelly’s use of words. In both the book and movie Frankenstein’s curiosity to create life changes from a curiosity to an obsession which turns him into a disfigured monster even uglier than the one he created.
