Statistically, there are over 700 million Hindus, mainly in bharat india and Nepal. Hinduism is referred to as Sanatana Dharma, the eternal faith. Hinduism is not strictly a religion. It is based on the practice of Dharma, the code of life. I will be talking to you about a sacred site of the hindu religion. The temple is the focus for all aspects of everyday life in the Hindu community - religious, cultural, educational and social. The temple is also the place where one can transcend the world of man. The temple I chose to focus on was the temple of Śivan Naṭarājan in Citamparam, South India. It is one of the greatest Hindu temples. Its history and legend are somewhat richer than most, but what makes it unique is that it is the only temple where the presiding deity is Śivan in his dancing form.
