Politically Canada has a relatively short political history. It officially dates back to July 1st 1867 where three of Britain’s North American colonies were brought together: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the province og Canada (what we today know as Ontario and Quebec). The pro-confederalist had spent years trying to convince their fellow North americans that joining forces would be in the best interest of all parties concerned and they therefore considered this a day of triumph. Before long other British territories in Nort America joined.
