People often question themselves as to what it takes to be a leader. A leader is somebody who not only has the power to motivate people but also emotional intelligence. In a paper published by Harvard Business School, entitled “What Makes a Leader?” the author Daniel Goleman asserts that the most important trait in becoming a successful leader is emotional intelligence. Goleman dissects emotional intelligence into five characteristics emotional intelligence contains, self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skill. Self-awareness is described as the ability to recognize your personal strengths and weakness and to be able to accept with honesty what your limitations are.
