Michelle Giambo JOB Summary Job begings with a narrative on the prosperity of a "perfect and upright" man named Job. In this story, Satan serves as a snitch and a bearer of bad news for God. He notices all of Job's wealth and decideds to put through a test. In order to test Job's steadfastness to the Lord, Satan convinces God to ruin everything Job values in life including his health, family, and opluence. Initially, Job struggles with the reality of the situation, constantly wavering between his faith in God and dire hopelessness. His wife can only see the disparity in his punishment, while he three friends, Eliphaz, Bildad and Zolphar try and console him. Eliphaz does not cast any blame upon Job, but reason's that he is being punished for mankind's imperfections, regardless of his sins. Bildad speaks next, and explains that someone in Jobs family must have commited a sin, and needs to atone by throwing "himself in God's mercy".
