There are many elements to a novel. All make up a portion of it, meaning all are in their own way integral. One such element is the mood. In the novel “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Bronte there are many moods present that are important to the novel. These moods are of Jane, the main character, for this book is related in the first person. But Jane’s moods throughout the novel give the book its own mood. For the most part, the mood is unhappy and distressing. Yet there are different moods evident. Early in the novel, Jane shows a small hint of a good mood for a while. As the novel progresses Jane encounters many hardships and the mood darkens to hopelessness. But Jane pushes through acquiring confidence and in the end love where for the first time, the mood is that of peacefulness and happiness.
