Yount TH 6:30-9:30 p.m. 10/09/03 SIMON BIRCH I think the movie portrayed the importance of friendship and peer relationships like this: Simon and Joe, each in their own way, are outcasts of the little town that they live in. In a sense, they have only had each other since they were very small. I think that everyone needs at least one best friend that they can spill their heart out to, someone who knows your deepest, darkest secrets, and someone who you can depend upon and believe in; someone who also believes in you.
