In the first five chapters of, Jane Eyre, a novel written by Charlotte Brontë, the main character, Jane, reads many challenging, and enlightening book for a girl of her age. I believe that this shows the she is an extremely bright and mature girl for her age. In the first chapter, Jane says how when she is in trouble, or is sent away from the others, she likes to read. As the story begins, 10-year-old Jane is reading, Bewick’s History of British Birds. In the first place, she is interested in the book, which shows that she has an enormous learning capability. But, it also says that she looked for a book with many pictures. That can be looked at in more than one way. It can mean, either: Jane is still a young child, who enjoys picture book and can’t read a book without them, or perhaps it could mean that she likes to envision what the book is about and pictures help her do that.
