Schizophrenia is a severe and disabling mental illness that causes individuals to separate themselves from reality. It has been said that schizophrenia is “arguably the worst disease affecting mankind, even AIDS not accepted ( )”. It is a diseased that, if left untreated, can rob a person of his or her ability to function normally in society. The term “schizo” in the word schizophrenia originates from the Greek language and refers to a split with reality.
