Feminism
Feminism is not often discussed as a major part in today’s movies but more and more films are coming out with females as leading actors. I will talk about feminism in general and also how it’s used in the movie “Bonnie & Clyde” and how that affected future films. Throughout motion picture history, women have experienced more transition in their roles, as a result of changing societal norms, than any other class. At first, both society and the movie industry said that women should be relay on men and remain in the home. As time passed and things changed, women were beginning to get more independence and also were portrayed differently in movies. A perfect example of that is “Bonnie & Clyde” Many things started changing in the 1960’s when the movie was originally made. Women were now being portrayed as powerful, unpredictable, and having a mysterious sexual power, which they sometimes used to outsmart men. Our country really changed in the 1960’s. We had the JFK assassination, the war in Vietnam and in the middle of it all was feminism.
