Ghost world is one of those movies you have to get into to be able to watch it from start to finish. This is not what you can call a normal movie. Enid is not what you call the average newly graduated high school student. She dyes her hair green and torments a kid named josh because she has a crush on him. It is like she cannot grow up without losing her individuality, so she tries very hard to avoid it. “The girl is named Enid, she has just graduated from high school, and she has no plans for college, marriage, a career or even next week. She's stuck in a world of stupid, shallow phonies, and she makes her personal style into a rebuke (Ebert).” It seems that nearly all the critics commented on Thora Birch’s portrayal of Enid in the movie.
