Hamlet
Hamlet is mourning his father’s death as anyone who truly loves their father would: With patience and respect, unlike his mother, Gertrude, and his Uncle Claudius. Claudius, aimed with guilt of killing his own brother by poisoning him so he can claim the throne, wants Hamlet to remain at court so he can keep his eye on him. Only two months has passed since King Hamlet’s untimely death, and apparently everyone has continued with their lives, everyone except young Hamlet. He says to his mother, after confronting her about how quickly she has mourned his father’s death, “Frailty, thy name is woman!”. He’s very upset and disturbed that she is so weak and that is her reasoning for marrying so early. Claudius throws himself a celebration for he has became king. Hamlet denounces the custom of the drunken celebration by saying they are partying right after a death of a king and war. That this is disrespectful, and no one should be happy at a time like this.
